Going into free agency this year, the Saints had a laser focus on one target in particular, tight end Jared Cook. Coming off a career-best season, 68 catches for 896 yards and six touchdowns, he was the best tight end in this year’s market. Everyone knew a few months ago that this would be the guy the Saints were going after.
So it was not a surprise to see a tweet from NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk five days ago saying only “Per source Saints are close to deal with TE Jared Cook.” That’s all, one short sentence.
