New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton announced Saturday that the team signed free agent running back Jacquizz Rodgers, and waived recently-signed running back Robert Kelley. Rodgers was also made available for comments to the media following training camp practice.
Rodgers has played in the NFL since 2011, spending his first four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and his last three with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; he also saw a five-game stint with the Chicago Bears back in 2015. Rodgers is a competent passing-down back with 216 career receptions off of 264 targets, which he turned into 1,590 receiving yards and five touchdown catches.
