Saints release LS Jesse Schmitt, sign veteran Thomas Gafford

The New Orleans Saints have gone through quire the carousel at the long snapper position so far this offseason. After deciding to let seven year Saints veteran Justin Drescher go this offseason, the team signed Jesse Schmitt to a two-year deal after a tryout in January. Well it turns out that deal was short lived, as Herbie Teope broke the news that Schmitt was being released.

The Saints didn’t take long to find a replacement though. Charean Williams posted just hours later that the Saints had signed veteran Thomas Gafford as the new long snapper. Gafford was on the Chiefs for seven years before bouncing around multiple NFL teams over the past two years,
