METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints obviously liked what they saw from veteran safety/special-teamer Chris Banjo after signing him last November. They agreed to a new two-year deal on Tuesday worth $2.6 million, plus $500,000 in incentives, a source confirmed. Details were first reported by the NFL Network.
Banjo, 27, was scheduled to be a restricted free agent this year. The 5-foot-10, 207-pounder spent his first three-plus years with the Green Bay Packers, where he established himself as a core special-teams player. But he was released by the Packers last year after suffering a hamstring injury.
