Saints promote rookie WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey from the practice squad

Injuries have struck the wide receiver position for the New Orleans Saints, so they’ve called up reinforcements in the form of rookie Lil’Jordan Humphrey, per Field Yates of ESPN. Humphrey was signed by the Saints earlier this summer as an undrafted free gent out of Texas; he made his mark in the preseason games, seeming to only catch long touchdown passes. He’s a slot specialist who could help fill the void created by Keith Kirkwood landing on injured reserve.

Kirkwood’s loss was the biggest concern, but the Saints are also managing other injured receivers. Tre’Quan Smith left last week’s game against the Los Angeles Rams with an ankle injury, and veteran slot receiver Austin Carr has been dealing with his own undisclosed ailment.
