New Orleans Saints owners Tom Benson and Gayle Benson are having an incredible rookie season on the horse racing track.
Two of their horses will compete in the Kentucky Derby on May 7 after Mo Tom was added to the 20-horse field as an alternate on Monday. Tom’s Ready had previously earned a spot in the field.
Having one horse turn into a Kentucky Derby contender was a long shot – especially since Gayle just became owner of GMB Stables in 2014.
Two horses in the Derby field is akin to the Saints reaching their first Super Bowl seven years ago.
