Saints OL Max Unger being evaluated for concussion

The New Orleans Saints announced that starting center Max Unger was being evaluated for a concussion after a collision with Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis sent him reeling. Unger fell to the ground and rose to a knee before leaving the field with assistance from team medical staff.

With Unger sidelined, the Saints are relying on backup Cameron Tom. The second-year center joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, where he was a second team All-Conference USA honoree. The Saints briefly made him the highest-paid practice squad player in the country last year before promoting him to the active roster, and he’s appeared sparingly since.
