Saints Officially Release LB Dannell Ellerbe From Injured Reserve

The New Orleans Saints officially released veteran LB Dannell Ellerbe from injured reserve on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Ian Rapoport reported that Ellerbe had been medically cleared by Dr. Anderson and his release from New Orleans’ injured reserve list is considered imminent, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Ellerbe, 31, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2009. After four years in Baltimore, Ellerbe departed for a five-year contract with the Dolphins. However, Miami later traded him to the Saints in return for WR Kenny Stills just a few years into the contract.
