New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael could be on the move in 2019, if odds posted at sportsbook BetDSI are any indicator. Carmichael has the fourth-most favorable odds (+2,000) to be the next head coach of the Green Bay Packers after longtime coach Mike McCarthy was fired on Sunday.
The candidates favored above Carmichael include John DeFilippo (+200), Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh (+800), and Zac Taylor (+1,500). Stanford Cardinal head coach David Shaw (+5,000) and Gary Kubiak (+10,000) are ranked just beneath Carmichael.
Would Carmichael leave, though? He’s taken an interest in head coach openings in the past, interviewing for the Chicago Bears job in 2013 (they hired Marc Trestman instead, who was fired after the 2014 season) but declining requests from the Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles.
