In the past seven years, the Saints have only won their season opener once. That was in 2013 when they actually won their first five games en route to an 11-5 record. In 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 the Saints have dropped at least their first two games.
From 2014-2016 the Saints finished with three consecutive 7-9 records. Thankfully, at least that has changed. It’s hard to pinpoint a reason for the slow starts. It seems to take the team longer to hit its stride.
That needs to change in 2018.
