Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe was expected to compete for a starting linebacker spot this training camp, but it seems injuries have derailed his career with the New Orleans Saints as it was announced Tuesday he was being placed on injured reserve with the intent to be waived.

Ellerbe was signed by the Saints in 2015 and was expected by many to be an important piece in helping turnaround a woeful Saints defense.
