SAN DIEGO -- Safety Jairus Byrd and linebacker Stephone Anthony are not expected to start for the New Orleans Saints on Sunday as the team makes significant tweaks to its struggling defense.
Veteran middle linebacker James Laurinaitis is also inactive for the first time in his eight-year career -- though it is unclear if that is injury-related, performance-related or a combination of both. Laurinaitis was added to the injury report Thursday with a quad injury that limited him in practice.
The Saints’ defense has been struggling during this year’s 0-3 start.
