METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints defense has been plagued by injuries this year -- five starters were missing from the lineup in Monday night’s 45-32 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
But they have also been plagued by too many disappointing performances from the healthy guys.
Safety Jairus Byrd, linebackers James Laurinaitis and Stephone Anthony and defensive end Paul Kruger have all gotten off to particularly slow starts.
Byrd and Laurinaitis did some nice things in New Orleans’ Week 2 loss at the New York Giants.
