Tom Benson passed away this past March, but his presence is still felt throughout New Orleans and with his beloved New Orleans Saints. During last night’s first preseason game of 2018, the Saints unveiled commemorative patches honoring Tom Benson that will be worn on helmets and jerseys throughout the season.
The patch is a silhouette of the iconic image of Tom Benson celebrating a Saints win with his trademark second line umbrella and the initials TB in black and gold.
Saints head coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis have spoken a lot about the void they have felt in Saints camp since Tom Benson’s passing.
