Saints designate CB Brandon Browner as post-June 1 release

The New Orleans Saints have officially released cornerback Brandon Browner, as expected. And they designated the move as a post-June 1 release, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

That means the Saints will save $2.25 million against this year’s salary cap, but those savings won’t kick in until June 1. Browner will still count $4.05 million against the cap this year and $1.3 million against the cap in 2017.

The Saints are an estimated $4-5 million under the cap after Wednesday’s moves, which included the signings of tight end Coby Fleener and kicker Kai Forbath and restricted free agent tenders for guard Tim Lelito and tight end Josh Hill.
