It’s about time! The New Orleans Saints finally have someone up for Pepsi Rookie of the Week voting, and it’s defensive end Marcus Davenport.
Propelled by his two sacks against the Minnesota Vikings, “Two Firsts” Davenport has earned recognition from the NFL for this nomination. Through 7 games, he has picked up 4 sacks which ranks 8th-best in Saints rookie history. Davenport is on pace for 9 sacks in his rookie year, which would be tremendous – and tie Renaldo Turnbull for 2nd place, behind the great Darren Howard (11 sacks).
Davenport faces tough competition in this week’s voting, including big names like Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen.
