ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the news, adding contract discussions between the Saints and Franklin are underway.

The 29-year-old Franklin originally entered the league in 2011 as a second-round pick of the Denver Broncos, where he spent four seasons before joining the San Diego Chargers in 2015 on a five-year deal.
