In a move that’s apparently been developing for over a week, the New Orleans Saints on Monday, Feb. 11, announced the hiring of special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi. Rizzi has been in that same position for the past ten years with the Miami Dolphins and made them one of the NFL’s premier units on special teams.
The Saints fired their former special teams coordinator, Bradford Banta, over a week ago, with most of his staff. Mike Westhoff, who had been brought in as a special teams advisor last season, announced he was retiring after getting word of the decision on Banta.
