Reports earlier in June suggested that the New Orleans Saints hope to work out a long-term contract extension with superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas by training camp, but talks between the two camps have plenty left to work out. Jeff Duncan of the Times-Picayune updated proceedings with a new report on Friday morning.
Duncan reported that the gulf between Thomas’ representatives and the Saints front office spans about $4 million per year — specifically, the Saints are prepared to pay Thomas roughly $18 million per year, while the first-team All-Pro has lowered his initial demand to just $22 million per season.
