A report from Adam Schefter of ESPN set New Orleans Saints in a frenzy earlier this week, suggesting that former tight end Benjamin Watson may cancel his retirement and return to the NFL. Watson last played for the Saints, and their need at the position — even after signing top free agent Jared Cook — made Watson’s potential return to New Orleans a perfect fit.
But Schefter followed up his first report with something of a curve ball. In an appearance on Boston-area sports radio show Mut & Callahan, Schefter relayed that he would not be suprised if Watson does end his retire early, but sign with the New England Patriots.
