Philadelphia Eagles to hire Doug Pederson as head coach, per several reports

Several sources, including NFL.com and the Philadelphia Daily News, are reporting that Kansas City offensive coordinator Doug Pederson is the next coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Pederson will take over for Chip Kelly, who was fired by the Eagles in December and hired by the San Francisco 49ers earlier Thursday.

Pederson, 47, played for five NFL teams and collegiately at Louisiana-Monroe (then known as Northeast Louisiana). He spent four years with the Eagles as an assistant coach, before heading to Kansas City to remain with Coach Andy Reid.

Philadelphia Daily News Eagles reporter Les Bowen tweeted late this afternoon he had confirmed the hiring, and soon after reported it on the newspaper's website.
