A New Orleans man filed paperwork Tuesday (Oct. 13) to join a class action lawsuit against online fantasy sports operators FanDuel and DraftKings, claiming certain players receive unfair betting advantages.

The suit could potentially face complications, however, since betting money on fantasy draft sports in Louisiana -- and four other states -- is illegal.

The class action suits were filed following reports that employees of the fantasy draft sports companies who had access to inside, company information were allowed to play for money. The reports, triggered by an employee's accidental data leak, have sparked debate about the legal gray area of fantasy sports betting and the ability of the fantasy sports industry to self-regulate.
