The NFL on Wednesday morning provided more details on the suspension process of New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram, explaining that his appeal already had been denied before Tuesday's (May 8) announcement of the four-game penalty.
Ingram's agent, David Jones of VIP Sports Management, wrote in a statement Wednesday morning (May 9) that Ingram had "vigorously" challenged the failed drug test and that Ingram was waiting for the arbitrator's opinion on May 16.
That opinion, though, will be nothing more than a written explanation of why Ingram's appeal was denied. The NFL does not announce suspensions until the appeal process has been completed, according to a statement from the league.
