The New Orleans Saints reached an agreement with free agent cornerback P.J. Williams, bringing back one of their key defenders from the 2018 season. Williams was a third round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft but didn’t break out until 2017 after some serious injuries waylaid his career.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Williams signed a one-year, $5 million contract, which is a high price to pay for someone who isn’t likely to begin the year in the starting lineup. Keep an eye out for more contract details, though. That $5 million could be the maximum value on a deal laden with incentives, and the guaranteed money is what really matters.
