Hokie Gajan fishing rodeo planned for June 18 in St. Tammany

The annual St. Tammany Parish Fishing Pier Hokie Gajan Family Fishing Rodeo is Saturday, June 18. This year the event will honor the late Hokie Gajan, North Shore native and lover of all things bound to nature. Participants can meet Gajan's family, create some of your own fish stories, support the St. Tammany Parish Fishing Pier, and honor Gajan's passion.

Gajan was diagnosed last fall with a rare form of cancer called liposarcoma and died on April 11 after calling New Orleans Saints games on the radio since 2000. He played football for Baker High School, and then played for LSU, where he rushed for rushed for 1,536 yards and helped the Tigers to three bowl games.
