First look at the initial 2020 roster for the New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have filed their official list of released and waived players with the league office, trimming their roster down beneath the NFL-mandated 53-player limit. But they aren’t quite finished yet.

All players released across the league with fewer than four years of experience will be eligible for waivers, meaning they could be picked up by other teams. But anyone claimed off of waivers must replace someone already on the roster; that means the Saints depth chart will look different in just a few days if they make any new acquisitions.

Additionally, three players under contract aren’t available right now: offensive lineman James Hurst (suspended four weeks due to a PED policy violation), linebacker Kiko Alonso (on the PUP list from ACL surgery), and running back Dwayne Washington (still in NFL COVID-19 protocol).
