Drew Brees said he’s making progress with his injury, and we have learned that it’s a Grade 2 tear of his plantar fascia. Brees is told that will not procedure after the season is over.
So, why risk playing and not turning things over to veteran Matt Flynn or rookie Garrett Grayson? Brees wants to play for his guys.
Brees was asked why he should play if he is hurt and out of the playoff race: “Because I want to play for my guys. Bottom line” #Saints

A Grade 2 tear is considered a moderate strain, and as per Aid My Plantar, this is the extent of the injury:
A grade 2 strain occurs when a tendon or muscle is partially torn but still intact.
