FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Talk about a quick cameo. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees exited the preseason opener vs. the New England Patriots after his first and only drive ended in a turnover.
Brees connected with Brandin Cooks for a 37-yard completion down the right sideline on the opening series. Mark Ingram then was stripped of the football by Patriots defensive lineman Jabaal Sheard and the miscue was recovered by New England's Cyrus Jones. Brees finished 1-of-1 passing for 37 yards in three snaps.
Saints second-year quarterback Garrett Grayson checked in for Brees on New Orleans' second drive and threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
