Dolphins snap up Saints rookie DB Trill Williams off of waivers

So that stinks. The New Orleans Saints initially waived rookie defensive back Trill Williams with a failed-physical designation, but reports said they had a contract prepared to re-sign the undrafted rookie out of Syracuse. That didn’t materialize, though, with the Miami Dolphins swooping in to claim Williams off of the waiver wire.

Williams went down with an ankle injury five games into his 2020 season, which hurt his draft stock and allowed the Saints to quickly add him as one of the gems of their undrafted free agents class. He had received mid-round grades from some draft analysts and posted exciting numbers in college, including four interceptions and three forced fumbles in his three-year Orange career.
