When we reviewed the contract numbers for all 32 NFL quarterbacks last month, we figured that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees would take no less than $20 million a year in his new contract.
And that would probably be a bargain.
Although he's still among the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Brees is no longer in his prime. And at 37 years old, he could be signing the final contract of his career.
But since then a spate of quarterback signings has only inflated the market further. And $20 million for Brees might be more than a bargain; it might be unrealistic.
