COSTA MESA, Calif. -- New Orleans Saints cornerback Delvin Breaux underwent successful surgery on Thursday for a fractured fibula, the second such injury he's suffered in less than a year.

Breaux has missed the majority of training camp this summer, but team doctors initially diagnosed him with a left leg contusion, which led to the firing of Dr. Deryk Jones and Misty Suri.

Dr. Robert Anderson performed the surgery on Breaux Thursday in Green Bay, Wisc., and coach Sean Payton said the operation left Breaux with a new plate in the bone that's longer than the one he had implanted last year after suffering the same injury in Week 1.
