Alvin Kamara sidelined after helmet-to-helmet hit

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara took a nasty hit to the head from Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith late in the fourth quarter, and exited the game to be attended to by team trainers in the sideline medical tent. Kamara was later sen walking to the locker room with a trainer.

Smith was not penalized for hitting Kamara’s helmet with his own helmet, which was a much-publicized point of emphasis by the NFL during the preseason. It was the latest missed call from referee Walt Anderson’s crew, who had some spotty calls throughout the night.

The Saints have not announced an update on Kamara’s status, but it would not be surprising if he were evaluated for a concussion.
