Things haven’t exactly gone according to the script for the New Orleans Saints. They’ve exited the first quarter of the 2020 season with a mediocre 2-2 record, having lost two very winnable games, with some of their highest-drafted players missing in action and too many breakout candidates waiting for their shot on the sidelines.
Sure, some players have risen to the occasion; wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith has been a reliable target, converting a first down on 11 of his 14 catches. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been the team’s most effective pass rusher (he’s the only player on the team with double-digit quarterback pressures).
