The Saints made the cuts in order to trim down their roster.
There will undoubtedly still be more cuts to be made as well. For now, the Saints still have several players that could be expendable on their roster and have continued to add a few others in the last couple of days.
The first round of cuts made was primarily offensive and included several wide receivers.
Amongst those roster cuts were defensive back Chris Johnson, offensive lineman Adrian Magee, running back Taquan Mizzell, wide receiver TommyLee Lewis, wide receiver Maurice Harris, wide receiver Krishawn Hogan, defensive end Gus Cumberlander, fullback Ricky Ortiz, and cornerback Deatrick Nichols.
