In my last mock draft for 2017, I had the Saints taking Marshon Lattimore in the first round. In my last mock for 2018, I figured there would be a trade but thought it would be down to acquire draft picks. I also said that “The trade doesn’t happen if there is a player on the board who the Saints want and shouldn’t be there that late. Edge rusher Marcus Davenport for example.”
I’m not a draft genius but sometimes things look really obvious. That’s not the case this year. I ended up going with Penn State tight end Mike Gesicki last year because I didn’t think Davenport would fall and I didn’t think the Saints would trade up.
