New Orleans guard Tyreke Evans will sit out Thursday’s nationally-televised home game (TNT, 8:30 p.m.) against the Lakers, the fifth consecutive time he has been sidelined by right knee tendinitis. Although the Pelicans have not made any definitive decision regarding Evans’ short-term status, Alvin Gentry noted during pregame that it is being evaluated on a daily basis.
“I think he’s better, but he’s not to the point where we feel like he can go and do it 100 percent,” the team’s first-year head coach said. “We’ll see. We’ll evaluate it. We’re trying to be cautious about it. Maybe it’s better for us to not play him until All-Star break or something.
