Tyreke Evans of New Orleans Pelicans likely to miss rest of season due to surgery on right knee

After missing the past seven games to help alleviate pain from right knee tendinitis, New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans will undergo surgery that is likely to cause him to miss the rest of the season, Yahoo! Sports' The Vertical reported.

Evans, a seven-year veteran, is scheduled to meet with specialists this week to finalize the details of his surgery, The Vertical reported.

For the past few weeks, Evans, 26, seemed on the cusp of returning to the lineup. On Feb. 1, as Evans was sidelined for a third consecutive game, coach Alvin Gentry predicted Evans was "probably not going to play," even as he stressed Evans probably was capable of playing through the pain.
