Did you know Buddy Hield wasn’t involved in the Demarcus Cousins trade?
Demarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi (20 million) were traded to the Pelicans for Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans ($15 million) and their 2017 first and Sixers second (acquired in Ish Smith trade).
Buddy Hield was traded in a separate transaction to acquire a $3.5 million dollar Designated Player Exception.
The Designated Player Exception takes up $3.5 million of the Pelicans books this offseason, and should the Pelicans resign Jrue Holiday, and operate over the cap, it will allow them to add talent through a trade.
