In Zach Lowe’s weekly NBA column this week, the ESPN.com writer took stock of the league’s rumor mill heading toward Thursday’s trade deadline. And, lo and behold, the New Orleans Pelicans got their own four paragraphs! Most notably, Lowe reported what sources are saying has been an ongoing series of talks between Milwaukee and New Orleans about Greg Monroe.
According to Lowe, the Pelicans like the idea of pairing Anthony Davis with a bruiser going forward, and Monroe definitely fits that bill. As Rick Stone and I talked about on the first Debrief Debates podcast, Monroe is a Louisiana native who has a history with the franchise dating back to his free agency last year, but would likely be an odd fit in Alvin Gentry’s transition-focused system.
