Jrue Holiday is set to become a free agent on July 1 and head coach Alvin Gentry hopes his starting guard will re-sign with the New Orleans Pelicans this summer.
"I’m sure [GM] Dell [Demps] will spend time with him, but I don’t really have to say that,” Gentry told The New Orleans Advocate. “I mean, good God, he’s very much a part of what we need and what we’ll try to do. That goes without saying. I don’t think that even has to be discussed on my part."
Gentry has been running an offense with Holiday playing off the ball (and with Tim Frazier as the point guard) since the head coach believes that is the best spot for the eight-year NBA veteran.
