Postgame: Pelicans 118, Magic 98

Pelicans (17-26), Magic (17-27)

Alvin Gentry has noted on several occasions recently that he wants his team to keep trying to play at a faster pace. This may have been what he meant.

In the opener of a six-game homestand Wednesday, New Orleans played perhaps its most up-tempo game of the entire 2016-17 season, generating a staggering 38 fast-break points vs. Orlando. The Pelicans entered the night averaging 14.2 fast-break points, which ranked 10th in the NBA (Golden State leads the league at 22.4). New Orleans also connected on 15 three-pointers, one shy of the most it has made in a game this season.
