MEMPHIS – New Orleans led after each of the first three quarters Monday but couldn’t hold off Memphis in the final period, losing in difficult fashion. In an attempt to compile a three-game winning streak for just the second time in 2015-16, the Pelicans dropped a one-possession game to the Grizzlies. Marc Gasol helped end the game in unusual fashion for Memphis, tapping a missed free throw by Courtney Lee with three seconds left to the backcourt, forcing time to run out and prevent New Orleans from getting the ball. The Pelicans return home Tuesday, beginning a season-long seven-game homestand against the Timberwolves.
