SAN ANTONIO – A case can be made that over the past two NBA seasons, no opponent has given San Antonio more problems than the New Orleans Pelicans. In a total of five matchups, New Orleans is 4-1, with the lone defeat coming in overtime on Dec. 31, 2014, after a fluky, buzzer-beating tip-in by the Spurs forced the extra five-minute period. New Orleans is the only NBA team that San Antonio has not beaten in regulation during that timeframe; the Pelicans even ruined the Spurs’ hopes of capturing the Southwest Division title in Game 82 of last season.
