Pelicans shootaround presented by HUB International: New Orleans seeks repeat performance vs. New York

NEW YORK – While climbing all the way to seventh place in the NBA in defensive efficiency (103.9 points allowed per 100 possessions, via NBA.com), perhaps no performance better demonstrated New Orleans’ recent stinginess at that end of the floor than a Dec. 30 home victory against New York. The Knicks shot a meager 37.6 percent from the field – the third-worst rate by any Pelicans opponent in 2016-17 – as well as 30.4 percent on three-pointers (7/23). New York top options Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis got their points, scoring 26 and 21 respectively, but it took them a combined 42 shot attempts to do so.
