For years in advance, draft analysts pointed to the 2014 NBA Draft as one that would be a league-changer, with multiple prospects labeled as franchise players who’d instantly alter a team’s fortunes. After a 2014-15 season in which very few of those breathless projections actually came to fruition, this year’s pre-draft conversation has been considerably more reserved. That’s also been the case in New Orleans, where the Pelicans don’t have a selection until late in the second round (the 56th pick overall of 60).
“I think it’s a good draft,” Pelicans GM Dell Demps said on the Black & Blue Report.
