The New Orleans Pelicans made if official on Tuesday, announcing the signing of rookie guard Frank Jackson, according to the team’s website.

The former Duke guard averaged 10.9 points in 36 games in his lone season in Durham. The Alpine, Utah, native, also shot 47 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range (second-best on the team) in helping the Blue Devils reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to eventual final four participant, South Carolina.

Jackson wasn’t even a Pelican during the early stages of draft night.

The Charlotte Hornets selected the Lone Peak High School (Highland, Utah) graduate with the first pick of the second round (31st overall), but quickly shipped him to New Orleans for the rights to former Florida State standout Dwayne Bacon.
