When an NBA team brings in players on 10-day contracts, they often don’t get a chance to see enough in terms of playing time or production to render a fair assessment of the new roster members. That shouldn’t be the case for New Orleans (27-47) over the final two weeks of the regular season, with March 16 signee Tim Frazier filling a significant role and recent pickups Jordan Hamilton and James Ennis needed for extensive minutes. No one from that trio would approach this kind of opportunity under ordinary circumstances, but New Orleans only has nine players available.
“You’ve got to see their whole body of work,” Pelicans Coach Alvin Gentry said of how the team will appraise the performances of new players.
