You could call it destiny, or as Omri Casspi described it upon his arrival at the New Orleans airport on Tuesday, “surreal.” The combo forward, who’s been an NBA teammate of DeMarcus Cousins for three-plus seasons, will continue to play with “Boogie,” via a trade that sent both players from the West Coast to Gulf Coast. During a pair of interviews since he’s become a member of the Pelicans, the eighth-year NBA veteran has sounded somewhat incredulous about the unexpected turn of events, including the pairing of Cousins with fellow perennial All-Star Anthony Davis.
“I never really thought something like this could happen in real life, him and AD together,” Casspi said at Wednesday’s press conference, prior to his first Pelicans practice.
