When the New Orleans Pelicans signed Omer Asik to a new contract this summer, there was plenty of talk that the team had made a big mistake. With Alvin Gentry as the team’s new head coach, New Orleans was hoping that Asik would buck the trend he showed in the playoffs where he struggled against the Golden State Warriors tempo.
Of course, that has not been the case as Asik and the Pelicans have struggled mightily to start the season and it does not look at all like Asik fits with what the Pelicans want to do both this season and long-term.
