The New Orleans Pelicans got a steal in the second round when they traded up to get Cheick Diallo. Most second round picks never see an NBA floor and are merely financial assets to grease the proverbial trade wheels, but Diallo seems destined to find himself securing meaningful minutes in the best basketball league in the entire world.
With that in mind, though, many are reading far too deeply into his strong performance in the NBA Summer League. It is encouraging to see him put on display some excellent defense, but it is important to remember that Diallo is a 19 year old second round pick that barely played during his time at Kansas.
